“Trump to promote U.S. natgas exports in Russia’s backyard”

In a preview to President Trump’s trip to Warsaw, Reuters explains how the U.S. will use its supplies of natural gas as a geopolitical tool when he meets with leaders of Adriatic, Baltic, and Black Seas states who are dependent on Russia for their energy needs. Increased U.S. gas exports to the region would weaken the impact of Russia using energy as a weapon or bargaining chip, former NATO Supreme Allied Commander James Jones told Reuters.

In other foreign policy news, “a clear majority of voters supports President Donald Trump’s travel ban on visitors from six predominately Muslim countries,” according to a new Politico/Morning Consult poll. Six-in-10 voters back the ban and support the State Department’s guidelines on who should or shouldn’t enter the country, Politico reports.

Domestically, Bloomberg reports how manufacturing pickup signals a boost to U.S. economic growth, with American factories powering up in June “at the fastest pace in nearly three years, with robust advances in production, orders and employment that indicate a firming in the economy.”

In the Wall Street Journal, Ivanka Trump touts the Trump administration’s paid family leave proposal, saying it “emphasizes the need for mothers and fathers to have access to paid leave to encourage both parents to share parenting responsibilities and to strive toward minimizing hiring biases.”

Jonathan Ingram in The Federalist notes how after Ohio expanded Medicaid to more than 725,000 able-bodied adults under Obamacare, it rolled back eligibility for some 34,000 seniors and individuals with disabilities as a cost-cutting measure. Ingram writes, “The expansion has been particularly tough on Ohio, where the Kasich administration promised the number of able-bodied enrollees would never exceed 447,000. By May 2017, the expansion enrollment topped more than 725,000 individuals.”

Tammy Bruce, in the Washington Times, praises President Trump’s wrestling match tweet,arguing “that the tweet was brilliant” in that it anticipated “a ridiculously overwrought reaction by the legacy media, and boy, did they deliver.”
