“Trump declares end to Obama-era energy curbs”

The Wall Street Journal details President Trump’s energy efforts – his intent to resurrect coal and nuclear power, his issuance of a special permit authorizing the construction of a new pipeline between the U.S. and Mexico, and plans to open up more federal lands and offshore sites to oil and natural gas drilling. “We applaud President Trump’s support of energy policies that secure and expand U.S. energy supplies and position our country as a world supplier,” Barry Worthington, executive director of the U.S. Energy Association, told the Journal. “An all-of-the-above energy strategy…advances U.S. energy security, but also protects our allies.”

The House can bolster immigration enforcement by passing two billsIn The Hill, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte outlines the importance of passing the No Sanctuary for Criminals Act and Kate’s Law, arguing, “we owe it to the families of those who have lost loved ones to take action to prevent such horrible crimes.”
The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette editorial board praises the President’s signing of the VA Accountability and Whistleblower Protection Act, arguing it was a piece of legislation “that we have trouble seeing [President Trump’s] November opponent ever signing.” The board pens, “Veteran protection is more important to some of us. Including the President.”

In The Baltimore Sun, president and CEO of the Green & Healthy Homes Initiative Ruth Ann Norton writes HUD Secretary Ben Carson “understands the link between health and housing.” She praises the Secretary for advocating “for smart investments in federal programs that reduce lead poisoning,” highlighting a trip Carson made to Baltimore yesterday.
The Washington Free Beacon reports that despite their criticism of repeal efforts, Democrats have repeatedly and frequently criticized “glaring problems” with Obamacare.
